About Alphie

I am a passionate and experienced teacher with the following qualifications:

PGCert NASENCo (National Award for SEN Coordination) – Bath Spa University
MEd Psychology of Education (Distinction) – University of Bristol
PGCE Secondary Science (Physics) – University of Bristol
BSc (Hons) Ocean Sciences – University of Plymouth
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – UK

I am invested in helping young people progress in their learning and have the skill, knowledge and experience to help them do this.

About the lesson

I am a UK-qualified primary teacher with over ten years of experience across mainstream primary schools, alternative provision, and international settings.

I have taught predominantly in Key Stage 2 across inner-city schools, working with highly diverse cohorts, including pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and English as an additional language. I have also taught in alternative provisions, supporting pupils with complex behavioural and emotional needs in small class settings, which developed my ability to build strong relationships and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.

Internationally, I have taught in Nepal, delivering the English National Curriculum to a diverse student body, further strengthening my adaptability and global perspective. Alongside this, I have worked in schools in Ethiopia and developed partnerships with schools in Kenya, facilitating cultural exchange and global learning.

In addition to classroom teaching, I have held leadership roles including SENDCo and subject leadership in areas such as maths, music, and global learning. I have mentored PGCE students and coached staff, supported by my training in TEEP (Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme), with a focus on improving classroom practice and inclusive teaching.

My pedagogy is rooted in enquiry-based, experiential learning, where pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their learning through real-world contexts. I place strong emphasis on relationships, wellbeing, and inclusion, ensuring that all pupils feel safe, valued, and able to succeed. I regularly use the environment and practical experiences—such as sustainability projects and outdoor learning—to deepen understanding and engagement.

I am also committed to evidence-informed practice, using assessment to inform teaching and ensure progress for all learners, while maintaining a creative and flexible approach that supports curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
