About Jack

I’m a fully qualified maths teacher with 10 years of teaching experience, specialising in Year 11 GCSE students.

It is my great pleasure to help students move from struggling to confident, with many exceeding their predicted grades.

It’s vital to me that my students feel comfortable in classes with me, and my role is to work with them to achieve their desired results stress-free. I relish making maths clearer and easier, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing a student who once struggled begin to believe in themselves.

About the lesson

My lessons are about finding and overcoming gaps in my students’ knowledge. We work through real exam questions until we find a weakness, then practice the challenging topic until it feels easy.

My goal is to help students feel at ease with maths, so that the exam no longer feels daunting - in fact, some students even begin to look forward to it!

Perfect! My sons (Y8 and Y10) had a taster lesson with Jack this week. From the start, Jack made both boys feel comfortable and they quickly engaged with the lesson. Jack has a professional and friendly approach, making the Maths lessons light-hearted and enjoyable. Jack’s passion for Maths and his own ability really shone through in the online lessons and I would thoroughly recommend.

Caitlin's attitude in our intro lesson was fantastic, she has clear personal goals and with regular directed practise she'll make excellent progress. Current targets are to master fractions and negatives and later looking at longer form questions. I look forward to future classes!

Charlie's mathematical skills are strong, picking up advanced concepts quickly, particularly in geometry. He would benefit most from work on his algebraic manipulation and familiarising himself with exam-style questions.

I would highly recommend Jack as a tutor. His approach makes mathematics approachable and fun, and he always offers lots of encouragement to build up confidence. He’s great at breaking everything down into simple steps so you understand the techniques around how to solve mathematical problems. He also very funny which helps bring the subject to life.

I have been tutored by Jack mainly in statistics. He helped me with my first year Forensic Analysis module which was more heavily compromised of stats than I was expecting and I really struggled to keep up.

At first I had kind of resigned to the idea I might just have to not do as well in that module as I would the others but Jack really helped show me that with with the right teacher you can learn anything and feel confident about your knowledge in it.

With Jack's help I not only managed to achieve highly in the exam (high 2:1), but I have also been helping other students with statistics this year at uni.

I couldn't recommend him more highly! I will absolutely come back to Jack for furthur tutoring should I need it
