About Michael
Ciao! I’m a native Italian teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching languages in the UK.
I’m passionate about helping students develop the confidence and practical skills to communicate naturally in Italian.
Whether you’re learning Italian for school, college or university, preparing for a holiday, developing your conversational skills, or need Italian for professional purposes, I tailor my lessons to your individual needs, interests and goals.
I studied in Rome before moving to the UK, where I have built a long and varied career in language teaching, translation and interpreting. Over the years, I have taught at some of Birmingham’s most established language schools and beyond the classroom in a corporate setting.
These experiences have given me a valuable insight into how Italian is used in authentic professional and everyday situations.
My teaching style is friendly, encouraging and learner-centred. I use conversation, practical activities and real-life situations to help you develop your speaking, listening and comprehension skills, while also introducing you to the richness of Italian culture.
After more than three decades of teaching, I understand that every learner is different. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine your existing Italian, I will adapt each lesson to your level and objectives.

Whether you are looking to improve your academic Italian for school, college or university, develop your conversational Italian for an upcoming holiday, or build your language skills for communicating confidently in a corporate or professional setting, I can help you achieve your goals.
Using communicative teaching methods, practical activities and regular personalised feedback, I will help you develop your confidence, fluency and understanding of Italian language and culture.
Lesson options:
30, 45 or 60-minute lessons available online.
60-minute face-to-face lessons available in the South Birmingham and Solihull area.
Following my studies in Rome, I moved to the UK, where I have been teaching languages, including my native Italian, for over 30 years.
Throughout my career, I have taught at some of Birmingham's well-established and widely recognised language schools, including The Brasshouse Language Centre, Berlitz School of Languages and Linguarama.
My professional experience also extends beyond teaching. I have worked as a language teacher and interpreter for the FIAT Group and as an interview translator for BBC programmes, including an interview with Enzo Ferrari.
My extensive teaching and professional experience allows me to offer lessons that are not only practical and engaging, but also informed by a deep understanding of Italian language, culture and real-world communication.
Whether you're learning Italian for study, work, travel or simply for the pleasure of speaking the language, I can tailor lessons specifically to you.
Qualifications:
- Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) by The TEFL Org (August 2023)
- Maturità Technica Diploma di Ragioniere e Perito Commerciale
(Equivalent to completion of upper secondary technical education e.g., A-Levels)
