About Ikra
I am a UK-qualified teacher with a PGCE in Early Years (3–7) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with around 9 years of teaching experience, including extensive experience supporting EAL learners. I currently teach Year 1 and also lead Phonics across EYFS and Primary. I am passionate about teaching because I find it incredibly rewarding to support children as they develop their confidence, skills and love of learning. I particularly enjoy building positive relationships with each child, understanding their individual needs and adapting my approach to help them succeed. Seeing a child make progress, especially in an area they previously found challenging, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. As both a teacher and a parent, I understand the importance of providing children with a supportive, encouraging environment where they feel valued and confident in their abilities.

My lessons are engaging, supportive and tailored to each child’s individual needs and ability. I use practical activities, games, visual resources and focused tasks to make learning enjoyable and build confidence. Lessons are carefully planned to address gaps, strengthen key skills and extend learning where appropriate. I specialise in Early Years and KS1, particularly phonics, reading, writing and early maths, and aim to create a positive environment where every child feels confident and excited to learn.
