About Anees

Hello and welcome to my profile! I am a dedicated and experienced Mathematics teacher with over 5 years of teaching experience at an Outstanding secondary school in Birmingham. I hold a First-Class degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MA in Teaching Studies, both from the University of Birmingham (UoB).
I teach GCSE Mathematics across KS3 and KS4, providing personalised support, clear explanations, and a range of tailored resources to meet the diverse learning needs of my students. I also hold a full Enhanced DBS certificate.
Coming from an urban and disadvantaged background, I understand the challenges many students face. My journey—from achieving 10 GCSEs (A*–C) to earning a First-Class degree and completing a Master’s—taught me the value of perseverance and self-belief. I aim to instil this same mindset in my students: that success comes not only from grades but from resilience, confidence, and a genuine love of learning.
Over the past few years, I have worked with learners of all ages—from GCSE students to adults on Access Courses—helping each one reach their potential. My students and colleagues describe me as patient, understanding, and adaptable, always ready to use different approaches until every learner feels confident and capable.

About the lesson

Every session will be specific to what the student needs most help with. Everyone learns in a different way so the structure of the lesson should never be the same. Depending on the subject and the student, the focus of each session will differ. For example, one session we can focus on understanding a specific topic and the next we can focus on practising it. Every lesson will be planed ahead depending on what the student would like to cover so that they can get the most out of every session.
