Hello and welcome!

My name is Katelyn, and I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree and a TEFL certificate. I am passionate about helping young learners build confidence, develop a love for learning, and reach their full potential.

As a classroom teacher, I have experience working with children in their early learning years and understand that every child learns differently. I pride myself on creating a patient, supportive, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically.

I offer tutoring in both English and Afrikaans, with lessons tailored to each learner's individual needs and goals. Whether your child needs help with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, vocabulary, homework support, or language development, I will create engaging lessons that make learning enjoyable and effective.

My teaching style is interactive, structured, and learner-centered. I use age-appropriate activities, games, visual aids, and practical examples to keep students motivated and actively involved in their learning. I believe that building confidence is just as important as building academic skills.

I primarily work with preschool, Grade R, and Foundation Phase learners (Grades 1–3), but I am happy to support older students who need assistance with English or Afrikaans.

About the lesson

I am a qualified Foundation Phase teacher with a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree and experience teaching young learners in a classroom setting. My goal is to create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to learn, ask questions, and grow at their own pace.

I offer Afrikaans and English lessons tailored to each learner's individual needs and learning style. My teaching approach is interactive, patient, and child-centered. I use a variety of activities, games, visual aids, reading exercises, and practical examples to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. I believe that children learn best when they are actively involved and having fun while building important skills.

I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans and can teach in either language. I can also provide support for learners who are learning Afrikaans or English as an additional language.

During a typical lesson, students can expect a warm and encouraging atmosphere, clear explanations, engaging activities, and regular opportunities to practice and apply what they have learned. Lessons are structured according to each learner's goals, whether they need help with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, homework support, or exam preparation.

My lessons are primarily aimed at preschool, Grade R, and Foundation Phase learners (Grades 1–3), but I am also happy to assist older learners who need support with Afrikaans or English language skills. I focus on building strong foundations, improving confidence, and helping each student reach their full potential through personalized and effective teaching.
