Although technically my degrees are from the English department, my fundamental approach to life is linguistic. Language that we read, speak, and communicate in is a mystery, and I strongly believe understanding it will solve half (if not all) of our problems.

The act of reading is fundamental to any educational pursuit. It requires certain discipline and commitment to read a novel or even a textbook. I primarily focus on engendering the habit of reading with short and long-term goals ranging from finishing an essay to finishing a whole book. My process will involve the students in active discussions of ideas and themes that they read or learn, and finding their own voice and style in the process. I believe literature helps us find ourselves in the strangest and most beautiful ways possible.
