About Georgette (Gigi)

I am an english literature major with a true love for academia! Teaching english and writing poetry are my passions, leading me to be published in a Canadian anthology of poetry entitled ‘Nectar’ for my poem, Pike Place, and well on my way to finishing my first degree, and starting my education degree to become a high school english teacher. Feeling confident in your communication, both in person, and on paper, is one of the greatest gifts studying english has given me, and that I hope to share with you.

About the lesson

I am here to help with any course work that may be a struggle while also giving my students practical skills in areas of non-confidence. During our lessons I will also be preparing my students for other applications of english, particularly useful for those entering post-secondary education. This includes essay writing and planning, tools to break-down and understand academic/literary texts, thesis formation, and even help students craft their resume or feel proficient in their professional communication (email formalities etc.).

A typical lesson consists of a check in, where the student is encouraged to share any progress, highlight any areas of insecurity, and ask any questions. From there I can address those concerns and select a useful reading or technique personalized to help the student excel and feel confident. During exam season focus will shift towards excellence in testing, analyzing texts, and academic essay writing.

My lessons are most useful for high school students who are taking english language arts, and wish to push themselves further while also preparing for post-secondary education. By doing this, you will see your progress reflected in your grades, your understanding, and fluent use of the english language throughout life, and on paper.
