I struggled with math at first in school, so I know what it feels like. Today's curriculum removed the context from math. Students don't learn why they are doing what they are doing. They miss out on number sense, estimation, and discovery. This does the student and math a disservice. I use my understanding of arts and sports to teach in creative ways giving math back its context.
