About Davina

Hello! My name is Davina, and I’m a psychology graduate with a strong passion for helping children grow in confidence and understanding. I have experience working with kids in educational, care, and recreational settings, and I specialize in one-on-one tutoring that’s patient, engaging, and tailored to each child’s needs. Working with kids has shown me that all learning can be adapted to meet individual needs, and that children are naturally eager to understand the world around them. I strive to create those “Aha” moments, when a child truly connects what they are learning, because these breakthroughs spark curiosity and build the foundation for lifelong learning. My background in psychology helps me understand how children think and learn, so I can adapt my approach to fit different learning styles and personalities. I enjoy creating a calm, supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and discover their strengths. I plan to continue my education in child psychology to deepen my understanding and better support the children I work with.

About the lesson

I focus on creating lessons that are clear, flexible, and matched to each student's learning style. My goal is to help children feel confident and supported while they learn. I use simple explanations, step-by-step guidance, and real-world examples to make lessons easier to understand.

A typical lesson starts with a quick review of what the student already knows. Then we move on to new material, using activities, questions, and practice exercises. At the end, we go over key points to make sure everything is understood.

My background in psychology and my experience working with children in learning environments taught me to adjust my teaching based on a child's mood, attention, or needs in the moment.

My lessons are for students aged 5 to 14, and I focus on English, reading, writing, Math, and study skills. I also have experience supporting students with learning differences or attention challenges.
