About Ava
Hi! I’m Ava, a psychology graduate and experienced educator with a passion for helping children learn and feel confident in themselves. I currently work as a K–2 special education paraeducator, where I support students with a variety of academic, developmental, and learning needs.
My experience working with children has taught me the importance of patience, encouragement, and meeting each student where they are. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress.
I bring a positive, supportive, and individualized approach to every lesson. My goal is not only to help students understand their schoolwork, but to help them develop confidence and skills that they can carry into the classroom and beyond.
I look forward to getting to know your child and helping them discover that they are capable of more than they may realize!

As a psychology graduate and current K–2 special education paraeducator, I believe tutoring should be encouraging, engaging, and personalized to each student. Every child learns differently, so I take the time to understand how a student learns best and adjust my approach accordingly.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in and review of previous material. From there, we work together on the student’s current goals, whether that involves reading, writing, math, homework, or building foundational academic skills. I use hands-on activities, examples, guided practice, and positive encouragement to make challenging concepts easier to understand. I also make sure students have opportunities to practice independently so they can build confidence in their abilities.
What sets me apart is my experience working with children with a wide range of academic, developmental, behavioral, and learning needs. My background in psychology and special education has taught me to be patient, flexible, and creative when finding ways to help a student understand something. I focus not only on helping students complete their work, but also on helping them become more confident and independent learners.
I primarily work with elementary-aged students, including students who benefit from additional academic support, individualized instruction, or a little extra encouragement. I can provide support with reading, writing, math, homework, study skills, and general elementary academics.
