About Haley

¡Hola, chicos! I’m Miss Beau, and I’m so excited to be your Spanish teacher this year! I’m 18 years old and from right here in Missouri. I’ve always loved learning about different languages and cultures, and I can’t wait to share that passion with you. In my class, we’ll do way more than just study vocabulary — we’ll explore music, food, traditions, and fun parts of life in Spanish-speaking countries. My goal is to make learning Spanish something you actually enjoy and feel confident doing. We’ll laugh, make mistakes, learn together, and by the end of the year, you’ll be surprised at how much Spanish you can understand and use. Let’s make it a great year — ¡vamos a aprender español juntos!

About the lesson

My Teaching Techniques 1. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Focus on real-life communication, not just grammar drills. Differentiated Instruction Adapt lessons for different learning styles — visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. Use songs, visuals, gestures, and movement to help all students succeed. 4. Music, Games, and Pop Culture Incorporate songs, TikTok clips, memes, or short films to teach vocabulary and culture. Use Kahoot, Quizlet Live, or Jeopardy-style review games for fun competition and repetition. 5. Cultural Immersion Bring in authentic materials: menus, videos, podcasts, and news articles from Spanish-speaking countries. Celebrate cultural holidays (like Día de los Muertos or La Tomatina) with hands-on activities. 6. Technology Integration Use digital tools like Duolingo Classroom, Flip (formerly Flipgrid), Edpuzzle, or Nearpod for interactive practice. Encourage students to create short videos, presentations, or podcasts in Spanish. 7. Scaffolding and Comprehensible Input Speak mostly in Spanish, but use visuals, gestures, and repetition to make meaning clear. Gradually increase language difficulty as students gain confidence. 8. Cooperative Learning Have students work in pairs or groups to practice dialogues, complete challenges, or teach each other new vocabulary. Builds confidence and communication skills. 9. Interactive Reading and Writing Use short, engaging texts (stories, dialogues, social media posts) for reading comprehension. Icebreaker question in chat: “Describe yourself in one emoji!” (then discuss in Spanish). 2. Extensions Post a Padlet board where students upload pictures or drawings with Spanish captions describing themselves. Assign a Quizlet set for vocabulary review and track student progress.
