About Amnael

I am a conservatory-trained professional violist with over 20 years of orchestral and teaching experience.

Although viola is my primary instrument, I also have extensive experience teaching cello and violin: in fact, most of my Superprof students have been cello learners, including adult beginners and committed advanced students.

I teach for Sheffield Music Hub, coach chamber ensembles of all levels, and I currently lead the viola sections of both the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra and the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra.

- I specialise in:

Viola — beginner → conservatoire level

Cello — beginner → advanced / Diploma / pre-conservatoire repertoire

Violin — beginner → advanced (solid foundational technique)

Music theory & chamber coaching

ABRSM / Trinity exam preparation

Confidence, mindset, and efficient practice strategies - especially for returning adults

My approach blends strong technical fundamentals (Russian school influence) with flexible, personalised lessons - always centred around the music you enjoy.

My goal: clear technique, confident sound, and music that genuinely brings you joy.

About the lesson

My lessons are built on a clear, structured approach rooted in the Russian violin and viola school, with an emphasis on relaxed posture, tone production, and musical confidence.

Every student receives a personalised plan based on their goals — whether that’s learning your first piece, preparing for ABRSM/Trinity exams, or working toward advanced repertoire and auditions.

For learning materials, I combine:

- Suzuki School and repertoire-based learning for beginners,

- focused etudes for technique development,

- and the student’s preferred music, so you always enjoy what you play.

I often set long-term musical goals (a piece you want to perform, an audition, a concerto), then break them down into simple weekly steps.

The lesson environment is calm, patient, and structured - perfect for adult beginners, motivated students, and anyone who wants to make real progress without feeling overwhelmed.

My aim is simple: clear technique, confident sound, and music you’re happy to play.
