About Helen

I am a freelance theatre director and graduate of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I have six years experience mentoring young people towards theatre qualifications, preparing young actors for Drama School and teaching theatre classes in Acting, Script Analysis and playwriting.

About the lesson

Hello!

My name is Helen, I am a Bristol-based tutor specialising in teaching Acting, Audition prep, LAMDA exams, Arts Award qualifications. I also tutor GCSE and A Level students in English Literature and Drama.

ABOUT ME
I work professionally as a theatre director and have an MA in Theatre Directing from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. I previously studied at the University of Warwick where I gained a 1st class degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies.

I am currently the Young Conservatoire teacher at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Previously, I spent five years working for Prime Theatre teaching Drama in schools, colleges and Youth Theatre. I also ran a mentoring programme for young people in partnership with the council, supporting them to achieve alternative Arts qualifications such as Arts Awards.

I am passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential, to feel confident in their abilities and to nurture a love of Drama. I have experience working with young people with a variety of SEND, SEMH and communication needs and adapt my lessons and teaching style to meet the unique needs and interests of the student. I can deliver sessions online or in person in the Bristol area.

CLASSES
Drama School Preparation is suitable for anyone aged 17+ who is preparing for a Drama School audition. I offer 60 - 90 minute online classes as stand-alone workshops or as part of a longer-term agreed programme.

LAMDA exams and Arts Awards are suitable for anyone aged 7+ who is keen to undertake an Arts qualification. I offer these classes in 8 to 12 week packages dependent on the level of qualification being studied.

General Acting, Script Analysis and Acting classes are suitable for anyone aged 16+ with an interest in those disciplines. I offer 60 - 90 minute online classes as stand-alone workshops or as part of a longer-term agreed programme.
