About Ian

I began playing guitar at 11, going straight into classical lessons for the first 2 years. I began by learning how to read music and soon developed a skill for sight reading. I then moved onto electric guitar in my teens, learning every song I could, learning to read TAB and playing along by ear.

I graduated Popular Music at the University of Salford, concentrating on guitar performance and composition. I learnt a lot about jazz guitar and playing music with others. I also wrote my own songs and played in many bands, gigging around Manchester.

Today, I write my own music, play and record with my band and teach guitar with Trafford Music Services in schools.

About the lesson

Lessons will completely revolve around you and what you wish to achieve. Whether you are a complete beginner or have a child who is looking to learn. I currently guide my students through the grade books within schools, teaching how to both read music and play the guitar. I also have adult students who simply wish to learn their favourite songs. It's up to you! I'm happy to help and guide you through your learning.
