About Sam

I'm currently working full time as part of a studio; however, I've been creating games for over 10 years for my portfolio, game jam competitions, university projects and of course just for fun as well. I can give you a realistic idea of what it means to be working as part of a real game dev team, as well as tips I've found useful in my own experiences as a programmer. I am willing to go above and beyond to make sure you get value from our lessons. Whether it's preparing personalised material, or getting back to you after researching specifics that couldn't be answered before the lessons end.

About the lesson

As a professional game programmer I primarily use Unity, programming in C#, but I can also teach beginner programming and broader Computer Science fundamentals if you want. I'm also willing to help you tackle any specific questions or issues you might have with your own projects, or simply just with advice on how to land your first job in the hyper competitive games industry. Just let me know what you want out of the lesson and I will prepare accordingly. A typical lesson will be working through a game project with you, at your preferred pace. I share my screen while we add features to the game. We can explore any topics or game features you like and you're always welcome to ask questions. I always strive to be available outside of the lessons, so that I can answer any questions you might have then too.

Perfect! Sam has been fantastic. I'm not the fastest learner, but he is always willing to cater our lessons to my pace. Every lesson we have had has been structured around the specifics I am keen to learn, and I am looking forward to building on those in our future lessons. Sam has the ability to break concepts down and make them very palatable, even for someone like me with zero knowledge prior to our first lesson. He is very supportive, and has been willing to be quite flexible with our lessons due to my awkward schedule. If, like me, you are just starting out, I can't recommend Sam highly enough.
