About Diana

Praised for her beautiful deep sound and immense artistry, Russian-born American pianist Diana Borshcheva’s passions lie in both solo and collaborative repertoire. As a solo pianist Ms. Borshcheva won several competitions in Russia and Europe, including the International Piano Competition in Italy (Grand Prix) and the International Piano Competition in Lithuania (First Award).
A graduate of the Central Music School of Moscow Conservatory (Moscow, Russia), Ms. Borshcheva received a Bachelor’s Degree in Solo Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in 2016, Double Master’s Degree in Solo and Collaborative Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2019. Before her position at Bard College Conservatory, Diana studied with Warren Jones at the Manhattan School of Music.
Ms. Borshcheva has been working with singers and instrumentalists for over 15 years. In the summer of 2019, Ms. Borshcheva worked as a pianist and vocal coach in Salzburg, Austria. In the spring of 2021, Ms. Borshcheva started a series of classical music concerts in Red Hook, NY. “Music in Red Hook” was created to support local artists after a hard period of Covid lockdown, when the majority of musicians lost any opportunity to perform. In September 2021 Ms. Borshcheva together with a group of like-minded colleagues launched Music in Red Hook Cultural Institution, the place that provides music lessons and open lectures to enrich cultural life of the community. In the summer of 2022 Ms. Borshcheva was performing at the Tanglewood Music Festival, as well as working as a vocal coach for the production of La Boheme in Steamboat Springs, CO.
Diana Borshcheva has been actively performing in the Hudson Valley since 2020, when she moved here from the city to take on a fellowship position at Bard College Conservatory. This summer season Diana is working for Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive.
Ms. Borshcheva is a dedicated piano teacher and vocal coach. Her teaching experience started 12 years ago when she became an assistant of her professor in Moscow. Ms. Borshcheva has been working with young students as well as adults. In Diana’s opinion the main goal of learning music is to enjoy it.

About the lesson

The study of music is a life changing experience! As an aspiring teaching artist, my teaching philosophy centers around the idea of allowing yourself to dive into the learning process. Some students will pursue professional careers, others will pass this knowledge to the next generation, and some will realize that music simply changes the way they view the world around them for the better. The study of music comes hand in hand with the understanding of certain personable skills as well. Responsibility, confidence, and discipline are necessary components of the successful students oeuvre. Without a doubt, those traits may be applied to an array of fields outside of music. Students will begin to realize that to do something well, it must be done with care, patience, and with passion for the music!
