About Serena

I am a professional Chess tutor with 7 years of experience teaching high school and college students. Over the years, I have successfully guided 200–250 students, helping them improve their strategic thinking, problem-solving, and confidence in the game. My teaching philosophy is based on creativity, communication, and patience. I focus on building a strong foundation in openings, tactics, endgames, and strategy while encouraging students to develop their own style and enjoy the learning process.

I use interactive lessons, game analysis, puzzles, and practice matches to make learning engaging and practical. I also incorporate related games and exercises to enhance critical thinking and decision-making skills. My goal is to not just teach Chess but to help students grow as thinkers and strategists, preparing them for competitions and real-life challenges. Seeing my students succeed and develop a love for the game is the most rewarding part of my work.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping students learn Chess in a structured, creative, and enjoyable way. I combine strategy, tactics, openings, endgames, and pattern recognition to build a strong foundation. Lessons include analysing games, solving puzzles, and exploring advanced strategies, while encouraging students to think critically and make confident decisions. I also integrate related games like backgammon, checkers, and strategic board games to enhance problem-solving and analytical skills.

I emphasise creativity, communication, and compassion in my sessions, guiding students with patience and understanding while helping them develop their own style. Problem-solving is at the core of every lesson, as I encourage students to find solutions and plan moves ahead. I adapt my teaching to each student’s level, pace, and learning goals, making sessions engaging and personalised. Through interactive exercises, game preparation, and real-time feedback, students improve focus, strategy, and confidence. My goal is not only to teach Chess but also to cultivate critical thinking, strategic planning, and a love for the game.
