About Cecile

I am Cecile, a professional French native speaker and qualified teacher, with almost 10 years of experience, including 6 in the UK. I passed a Master's Degree in Teaching French Literature and Language after graduating in Literature, Philosophy and Humanities in France. I also hold a Master's degree in Teaching French as a Modern Foreign Language. I am a friendly and open-minded teacher with high standards and a love for methodology. Having both taught in France and in England I have got a deep understanding of both cultures and educational systems, hence I adapt my teaching according to your needs and expectations. Having worked both in state and independent schools gives me a clear insight into the differences and similarities and how to adapt to each and succeed within each system. I teach all ages and levels from complete beginners to advanced learners. I can prepare you for exams such as the 11+ admission exam, A-level as well as IB and Baccalaureate, University statement and entrance, internship and interview preparation. I followed a PGCE course as well so I am up-to-date with the most recent exam specifications and requirements. I offer small groups up to 4 and one-to-one sessions. Groups can be organised depending on availability with a maximum of 4 people per group of level to ensure efficiency. Groups are a great way to interact with other students, to build confidence, and to practice in a friendly yet challenging environment whilst private sessions offer the benefit of having a teacher entirely dedicated to you and your needs. Having helped and trained many students I am convinced that my passion will benefit your learning. Some were French expatriates preparing for entrance exams in British private schools, British children and teenagers integrating French schools, British bilingual young persons willing to get to French universities and Preparatory Schools, French students preparing their return into French private Grammar schools or International British schools. They were all from various backgrounds and I taught them either as complete beginners or by adapting to their current level to take them to the next one. Whatever my students' background or expectations, I am always totally dedicated to my students' needs and I am proud to teach them in a way that their progress goes beyond their own expectations. I have high expectations and I use my skills and enthusiasm for you to become a confident learner and a successful candidate! About the lesson

MY APPROACH In my opinion, a good methodology is the road to success in all exams and interviews. I support all my students, guiding them through the expectations, giving them clear advice and instructions on how to achieve their goals and coaching them on an intellectual and interpersonal level so they become confident enough to reach their goals with the success they deserve. Exam preparation can be taught in a fun and efficient way, being based on expectations and course books but also on real-life situations with a particular focus on communication skills. The aim is to improve your knowledge of the subject for you to be able to demonstrate your confidence within that subject and to feel at ease with it whatever the expectations and kind of exams or interview process you will have to go through. YOUR LESSONS The lessons are based on your needs and are tailored especially for you. They cover all aspects of the exams/admission process, including interpersonal presentation. I always make sure to structure the lessons around the 4 language skills: methodology, exam-based questions and general communication and confidence advice. I incorporate grammar points, speaking practice, formal exercises and games to make sure that your language, both written and spoken, is at its best. The lessons are based on the Curriculum specifically recommended for your exams/interview depending on what you are applying for. It will be our reference and provide a guideline for your learning. For students with previous knowledge, lessons are built around your existing knowledge in order to take you to the next level. Whatever the level you start from, I will give you homework and lessons to learn and practice in between lessons to embed the contents from the previous one and to be ready for the next one. The learning material is provided and I am proud to provide each student with a specific follow-up which can be accessed in an online personal space. There are provided lessons, exercises or homework and extra resources for you to further your learning whilst not in the classroom! In order to achieve those goals, I use a well-structured scheme of work following a step-by-step way of learning the structure which is required for the different exam types such as a dissertation, literary comment or synthesis for example. Thanks to my studies and experience, I am able to explain the technical points and the nuances of the language and exercises in a way which is easily understandable whilst never giving up on quality. I give particular attention to accuracy and details and I always push my students to go an extra mile in their learning journey.
