About Suraj

Hello, I'm Suraj!

I hold a Distinction in my Master’s from King’s College London in Global Politics where I specialised in the politics of India, China and the Middle East. I did my undergraduate in BA Politics at the University of Leicester.

I have an interest in international relations theory, comparative politics, politics of memory, politics of identity, populism, foreign policy.

My geographic area interests are South Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. I am particularly interested in the role that populism and identity politics have come to play in international politics and how the Self is portrayed in foreign policy. I find Hindu nationalism and religious nationalism particularly fascinating as well as the threat of a growing China on the (Western) alliance of democracies.

My postgraduate dissertation investigated the contemporary strategic relations between India and Israel since 2014 (which also received a distinction). Combining insights from realist and constructivist theories, the dissertation assesses the impact of global and regional power and security dynamics on Indo-Israeli relations and interrogates how "othering" third states strengthens bilateral resilience.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on developing the analytical skills required for students, the essential ability to "read between the lines". Depending on the task at hand, I would work to develop an outline before they begin to write a full essay or dissertation response.

I am also review essay or dissertation plans or go through and proofread dissertations. I know how helpful a second eye to see the wood from the trees can be.
