About Alex
I am a passionate flautist and piccolo player who loves sharing music and ideas with people. Having studied and performed internationally, I bring both professional experience and creativity into my teaching. I take pride in inspiring students to grow musically, whether preparing for exams, auditions, or simply playing for enjoyment. Outside of music, I enjoy photography and cycling, which continually give me fresh perspectives and energy. My goal is to nurture skill, artistry, and a lifelong love of music.

He graduated from the Orchestral Artistry, Master of Performance at GSMD and he holds a Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree with 1st-class honours from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). With over 7 years of dedicated teaching experience, Alex takes pride in helping students achieve exceptional results, boasting a 100% passing rate in ABRSM and Trinity Diploma exams, with 95% of my students attaining Distinction. His teaching is enriched by his own musical journey, having studied with world-class professors and professional musicians from prestigious institutions and countries including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. This global exposure has deeply influenced my approach, allowing me to blend diverse techniques and traditions into my teaching. Alex specialises in creating flexible and personalised lessons tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each student, whether they are beginners taking their first steps or advanced learners pursuing diploma-level achievements. Additionally, Alex speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, which enables him to communicate effectively with students from diverse linguistic backgrounds and cater to their individual needs. Alex’s ultimate goal is to inspire a lifelong love for music while nurturing technical skill and artistic expression. Alex engaged himself in different international competitions and has excelled in various competitions. He won the GSMD Needlemakers’ Woodwinds Prize 2023 and reached the finals of the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition 2023, semi-finalist in the prestigious GSMD Gold Medal concerto competition 2024 and reached the finals of the Tunbridge Wells International Music Competition 2024. Holding the Honours Students Recital Award at the HKBU (2022) in his final year, he has his debut concerto with the HKBU Symphony, performing the Carmen Fantasy. Subsequently, he performed with the Guildhall Baroque Orchestra in a performance on the baroque flute of the Telemann Flute Duo Concerto in February 2023. His diverse performance experiences have provided him the opportunity to perform in prestigious venues around the world. Notably, he has performed in the Dolce Art Hall, Osaka, and Takemitsu Memorial Concert Hall, Tokyo Opera City in Japan, Barbican Centre, LSO St. Luke's and Cadogan Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York and Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
