About Andrew

If you are struggling with your Pre-Calculus, Calculus or Statistics courses and don't know what to do, I understand what you are going through. As a younger student, mathematics was never my strong suit until I learned some very basic tools to help me achieve straight As in Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 and Calculus 2, and Statistics.

Mathematics builds on itself. Therefore, even if you miss 2 minutes of a lecture because somehow you were distracted , it could affect your understanding of every chapter afterwards.

We will take a targeted approach by filling in the "knowledge-gaps" that have been accumulated over time through exploration of the broader concepts and regular demonstration of practice problems.

Someone once said, "Unless you can explain something simply, you really do not understand it." One of the biggest things I enjoy doing is explain very complicated ideas in as few words as possible.

In my experience, the concepts that are portrayed in Calculus and Statistics classrooms are demonstrated in such a way that the main idea, or in other words, the essence of the idea, is overshadowed by the rigorous symbol notation.

Sometimes, what appears to be something extremely complicated can usually be summed up in a sentence or two.

I am currently employed by the Community College of Philadelphia where I teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus 1, Pre-Calculus 2, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Statistics 1 Statistics 2, and Discrete Mathematics.

I also have experience teaching non-mathematical subjects. I have a small business teaching American Heart Association CPR training courses. During this time I learned what teaching styles work and what teaching styles don't work. I have around 6,000 hours of instructor experience.

About the lesson

Prior to the our first free session the student can send over any pertinent information such as lecture notes, or e-textbooks to help me get aquainted with the material. If, after review of the material, I feel as though I would be a good resource for the student, we can then set up our first session. From there, our sessions will be conducted via the Internet from the comfort and convenience of your own home. For successive weekly meetings I will need to be updated with new material as soon as possible. For example, if the student needs help with homework problems it would be best to send them over to me soon after the student gets the assignment so I can review them. My goal is to dedicate the maximum amount of time to answering the students questions regarding the course material.
