About Krisztina
I hold a PhD from the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University, following an international academic path that took me through Hungary, Syria and Israel. I earned three master’s degrees—in Arabic Studies, Hebrew Studies and Religious Studies—and received broad historical training spanning the Ancient Near East and Classical Antiquity through the early modern period. My scholarly focus includes Religious Studies, with particular emphasis on Islamic and Jewish Studies and Christianity.
I work across a wide range of languages, including Classical and Modern Standard Arabic (as well as Christian Arabic and Judaeo-Arabic), Biblical and Talmudic Aramaic, Classical Syriac, Biblical, Mishnaic, and Modern Hebrew, Ancient Greek, Latin, Russian, French and German. My research is grounded in close engagement with premodern manuscripts, especially in Arabic.
After completing my PhD, I spent roughly a decade teaching and conducting research at the University of Cambridge and the Freie Universität Berlin. My publications explore religious encounters and intellectual exchanges among Muslims, Christians and Jews from the medieval to the early modern periods, across the Middle East and Europe.
I am deeply committed to education, research, and writing, and to the responsible dissemination of knowledge. I believe strongly in the value of original research and in ethical scholarly practice. More broadly, I am convinced that a deeper understanding of our shared histories and cultures is essential to building a better future.
For the past seven years, I have worked closely with MA and PhD students across a wide range of humanities and history disciplines, helping them refine their research, sharpen their arguments and elevate their academic writing. I would be delighted to work with you and support you on your academic journey.

These lessons are designed to help you think critically about your research and express your ideas with clarity, precision and persuasive force. Each session is tailored to your specific needs and stage of work. I can support you in refining your topic, formulating a strong research question and objectives, drafting your proposal, identifying and engaging with relevant scholarship, writing an effective literature review and selecting an appropriate methodology.
I also provide detailed feedback on draft chapters, along with careful editing and proofreading to ensure that your arguments are communicated clearly and professionally. In addition, I can help you prepare to present your research at workshops and conferences, sharpening both structure and delivery.
In short, I can assist you at any stage of your thesis or dissertation, from the earliest brainstorming to the final revisions. Sessions typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, though longer meetings are possible when needed. You may choose one-off consultations or ongoing collaboration, either online or in person.
I also offer standalone editing and proofreading services. In this case, you send me a draft, and I return it with detailed comments and suggestions, without a meeting.
To be absolutely clear, I do not complete assignments or write essays, theses or dissertations on your behalf. I act as an unofficial supervisor and mentor, supporting you as you develop your own work and reach your academic goals. I fully understand that students sometimes seek this kind of support because of unavailable or unhelpful supervision, and I treat all such work as strictly confidential. While our collaboration is entirely legitimate, I will never disclose any personal or identifying information about you or your research to anyone, on any platform.

I met Krisztina more than 20 years ago, when I was a postdoc in the US and she was a PhD student. She helped me read through Arabic philosophical texts from the Middle Ages. She understood the (to me) nearly incomprehensible texts with ease and explained them to me with endless patience.. She is conscientious, knowledgeable, nice--the perfect tutor.
Enthusiastic and patient. Very, very knowledgeable! My Arabic has improved really fast.
Traveling to Egypt for work time to time, I wanted to be able to read newspapers and follow news on radio and TV. While at home, I took a lesson every week for six months with Krisztina, followed her intensive study plan between the lessons. When I returned to Egypt, I could understand most of the news. Shukran, Krisztina!
Great, extremely knowledgeable, and very thorough teacher! She gave me the exact help I needed. I had studied modern literary Arabic before but had to read medieval Arabic historical sources for my research. Over six months, we read relevant excerpts two to three times a week together. After that, I was ready to continue on my own.
