About Nicola

I am a kind and friendly teacher. I like to read, walk and spend time with my family. I enjoy going on long walks at the weekend and getting outside into the fresh air. Also, enjoying cosying up with some popcorn to watch a good movie.

About the lesson

Creating a Positive and Supportive Environment. I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, encouraged, and confident. I focus on building a positive relationship with each child, ensuring they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes—an essential part of learning. Understanding Each Child’s Learning Style. Every child is unique, so I take time to observe and understand their preferred learning style. Whether they are visual learners who benefit from pictures and diagrams, auditory learners who respond well to discussion, or kinaesthetic learners who need hands-on activities, I tailor my teaching methods accordingly. Making Learning Engaging and Fun. Children learn best when they are actively engaged. I use interactive activities such as games, storytelling, role-playing, and real-world examples to make lessons enjoyable and relatable. This approach helps maintain their attention and fosters a love for learning. Building Confidence Through Encouragement. Many children struggle with self-doubt in academics. I emphasise their strengths, celebrate progress (no matter how small), and use positive reinforcement to boost their confidence. By focusing on their achievements, I help them develop a growth mindset and resilience in learning. Breaking Down Complex Concepts. For difficult topics, I simplify concepts into smaller, manageable steps. I use analogies, real-life examples, and hands-on demonstrations to help children grasp abstract ideas in a way that makes sense to them. Encouraging Active Participation. I involve children in the learning process by asking open-ended questions, encouraging critical thinking, and allowing them to explain concepts in their own words. This deepens their understanding and strengthens their communication skills. Fostering a Love for Reading and Problem-Solving. Reading and problem-solving are foundational skills in education. I incorporate storytelling, creative writing, and problem-solving challenges to develop their literacy and critical thinking abilities in a natural, engaging way. Providing Structure While Being Flexible. A structured learning plan provides consistency, but I also remain flexible to adjust lessons based on the child’s mood, energy level, and individual needs. If a child is struggling or losing interest, I modify my approach to keep them engaged. Encouraging Independence and Responsibility. My goal is to help children become independent learners. I guide them in setting small academic goals, developing study habits, and taking responsibility for their learning. This empowers them with skills they will use throughout their education. Maintaining Open Communication with Parents. Parents play a crucial role in their child’s education. I keep them informed about their child's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. I also provide suggestions on how they can support learning at home in a stress-free and enjoyable way. By following this approach, I strive to create a nurturing, engaging, and effective learning experience that helps children develop confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love for learning.
