About Sofia

Welcome! I'm Sofia, a qualified and experienced teacher with a strong passion for helping students succeed. With an undergraduate degree and a Master's in Education Studies, I have a deep understanding of how children learn and grow. I’ve spent three years teaching KS2 students, particularly Year 5, and have previously worked as a Teaching Assistant, so I understand the individual needs of each student. My teaching approach is tailored to support every learner, whether they need extra help or a bit more challenge. In my lessons, I create a positive and supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace. I believe every student can succeed, and I’m here to guide and encourage them every step of the way. You can expect high standards, clear explanations, and a lesson structure designed to keep students engaged and motivated. I'm here to help you reach your full potential and make learning both enjoyable and rewarding.

About the lesson

I use a mix of differentiation (tailoring lessons to students’ abilities), active learning (hands-on tasks and group work), and scaffolding (gradual support) to ensure all students succeed. I focus on growth mindset to build resilience and use Assessment for Learning (like quizzes and questioning) to guide progress. Lessons are typically 45-60 minutes long, allowing enough time to explore a topic with short activities in between to keep students engaged and focused. I hold an undergraduate in Education Studies and Master’s in PGCE. With 3 years of teaching experience and a background as a TA, I’ve developed a strong ability to tailor lessons to meet individual needs and support students at different levels. I teach KS2, Year 5 students (ages 9-10), offering both support for students needing extra help and enrichment for those looking for more challenge in subjects like literacy, numeracy, and science.
