About Joshua

Hi, my name is Joshua Strickland! I live in Houston TX, where I work as a Software Engineer for JPMorgan Chase & Co. I have real world experience developing major applications for one of the largest financial companies in the world. I specifically work with languages like: python, java, SQL, C++, and am currently learning a lot about AWS. I also graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a degree in Computer Science and a Minor in Cybersecurity. I am happily married and outside of work I love to play pickleball, ping pong, tennis, and disc golf! I would love to teach anyone who is interested in learning programming / computer science / software engineering.

About the lesson

Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, I bring real-world industry experience into my teaching. I rely heavily on practicality and relevance, ensuring that students not only grasp theoretical concepts but also get exposure to hands-on programming experience with coding exercises and projects.

Typical Lesson Plan:
Each session is structured to cover fundamental computer science theoretical knowledge/principals, practical coding exercises, and real-world problem-solving scenarios. These lessons are tailored to progressively build skills by not only discussing key concepts but actually getting real world experience with various programming challenges.

With my combination of academic excellence and hands-on industry experience, I offer insights into both the academic and professional aspects of software engineering. As your mentor I will provide guidance on a technical level but also equip you with effective problem solving strategies.
