About Yoni

I am currently a Neuroscience MSc student at King's College London and am a graduate of Biomedical Sciences from the University of Newcastle, where I was a medical student for two years before deciding to switch course. I've always found sciences to be absolutely fascinating and enjoy sharing my passion for them in a way that helps others build their understanding. I have been tutoring A-level and GCSE students for three years. In that time I have helped over 20 different students at varying levels and points on their courses to feel more confident in their understanding of subjects and feel better prepared for their exams. My support has consistently resulted in students achieving or exceeding their desired grades. I also have experience running educational sessions on a broad range of topics for children aged between eight and 15 while volunteering as part of a youth movement. Prior to this I became involved in a mentoring programme which aimed to provide guidance to year seven students struggling with maths. I really enjoy tutoring and always bring that enthusiasm to every lesson. The prospect of helping students not just understand the content, but also appreciate how interesting and amazing these subjects can be, gives me a sense of excitement and joy.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is first and foremost student-orientated. Establishing teaching styles that best suit a student is key to ensuring lesson time is used effectively. I believe that having a strong rapport with students and promoting open discussion is a key aspect in building confidence and engagement. Forming a strong understanding of basic principles is the first step in grasping more complex topics. By creating a holistic foundation, students gain skills which make comprehension of new ideas easier and more seamless. This prepares them for any exam situation. In addition, I realise that exam technique is (frustratingly) a significant part of academic success, and therefore bring this into my lessons alongside content.

Perfect! Yoni is the perfect tutor for our son, as he navigates the uncertain terrain of the first year studying for his Chemistry A-levels. Our son is very smart, generally picks things up quickly, but he was really struggling with the teaching style of his in-class teacher. Enter Yoni – he is incredibly patient and empathetic, explaining the concepts in various ways to make sure he's really following along and understanding with depth. Yoni is not just polite – he's comfortable to be around and is just such a nice person. We are so glad to have found him!

Perfect! Our daughter has been working with Yonatan for a while now while preparing for her A levels exams in Chemistry. We are very happy with the lessons and the progress she has made our daughters grades improved and her confidence grew. Yonatan explains the information very well. He is adjusting each lessons to her needs ( depending on what she struggles or what she wants to revise for the particular week). Yonatan has been very flexible about the days and the time of the lessons ( easy to change the day at the last minute). Yonatan is always available at the short notice if needed.
