About Anuroopa
Hi, I'm Anuroopa — a neuroscientist and clinical research professional based in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. I hold a Master of Science in Neurosciences from Carleton University, where my thesis focused on neuroinflammatory processes in a Parkinson's disease mouse model. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and am currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research at Sheridan College.
I have over five years of experience across academic, hospital, and clinical diagnostic environments, including oncology research at LTRI/Mount Sinai Hospital and clinical diagnostic laboratory work at WellPoint Health. I am a published author across several peer-reviewed journals including Nature and ACS Chemical Biology. During my master's degree, I also worked as a teaching assistant, which is where my interest in explaining complex science to others first developed.
I am patient, multilingual, and comfortable working with students from a wide range of backgrounds.

About Me
A postgraduate science student currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research. My academic and professional background spans biology, biochemistry, mathematics, statistics, and research methodology, and I bring that depth of knowledge directly into my tutoring sessions.
My Teaching Approach
I believe the biggest barrier to understanding science and math isn't intelligence — it's how the material is explained. My sessions are concept-first: before we touch formulas or memorization, we make sure the underlying idea actually makes sense. I use real-world analogies, step-by-step breakdowns, and a lot of back-and-forth to make sure nothing gets glossed over.
A Typical Lesson
Each session starts with a quick check-in on what's been covered in class and where the confusion is. From there we work through the concept together, practice with targeted problems, and wrap up with a short review so the student leaves with clarity, not just completed homework.
What Sets Me Apart
I'm multilingual and have worked with people from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, which means I'm comfortable adapting my explanations until they land. I'm patient, direct, and I don't move on until the student genuinely understands.

These lessons are designed for middle school and high school students, as well as first and second-year college students in life sciences, biology, biochemistry, or health sciences programs in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
