About Kate

I'm Kate and I'm a final year undergraduate student at the University of Edinburgh, on track to graduate with a first class honours degree in Politics. I was Features Editor at The Student paper for a year, and currently host my own politics show at Switch Radio - in addition to being the station's news correspondent on the breakfast show.

I have extensive experience writing in a variety of forms: academic, journalistic, and creative. I also have strong A-Level results in History and English Literature, and am competent to tutor GCSE and A-Level courses in these subjects, having tutored my sister in them for her GCSEs. I currently tutor English to a Ukrainian refugee and have been privileged enough to see him develop his writing, reading, and speaking skills.

My classes are individualised, engaging, and built upon strong communication between myself and my student. More than simply teaching students about their subject, I am keen to help them develop adademically and professionally. As such, I am always happy to offer advice and support where I can regarding jobs, universities, and academic or professional life.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to suit my student's age and individual needs. Yet, all classes focus on three elements: clear guidance and examples from myself; communication, confidence building and the chance for students to ask questions; and independent work, research, and exploration.

I typically offer one hour lessons to primary aged students and those studying for A-Level and GCSE. I have tutored family members studying for their GCSE's in the past, and currently help to develop the English skills of a Ukrianian refugee. I also have experience as an editor at a newspaper and currently host my own politics show on the radio.
