About Emily
Heyy! I’m a 1st Year Politics & International Relations Undergraduate at Royal Holloway, University of London and I’m passionate about helping students develop confidence and curiosity in Politics and History. I understand first-hand how challenging these subjects can seem and I aim to make learning both approachable and enjoyable. Alongside my studies, I am an active member of the Politics & International Relations Society and regularly attend General Model United Nations Society, both of which allow me to deepen my political knowledge and strengthen my communication and debate skills. I also enjoy a well-rounded university experience: I row for Royal Holloway and play the clarinet, which help me maintain discipline, focus and strong time management. Before university, I had the opportunity to lead a choir in my junior school while in Sixth Form, giving me valuable first-hand teaching experience, particularly in guiding younger students and helping them feel at ease while learning new skills. Additionally, my role as a DofE Ambassador has helped me develop problem-solving abilities and the confidence to adapt my approach to suit different learning styles and personalities. These experiences have equipped me with strong communication skills, leadership qualities, patience and adaptability, all essential for effective tutoring. I take pride in being friendly, professional and supportive. I always tailor my teaching to what each individual student needs to succeed. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

My lessons are typically one hour long and take place online, making them flexible and accessible for students. I tutor GCSE and A-Level students, as well as those needing introductory support in Politics, History and International Relations. I will begin each session with a clear overview of what we will cover and how the lesson will be structured. This helps students understand the goals of the session and what they should aim to take away from it. When teaching content, I approach topics in a logical, chronological order, especially in History, to help students build a clear narrative and understand how events connect. In Politics, where concepts can sometimes feel abstract (e.g., voting systems or government structures), I break them down into relatable, real-world examples to ensure the ideas make sense and feel relevant. For students working towards exams, a major focus of my tutoring is exam technique. Throughout the lesson, we will look at how content translates into strong answers, including regular essay planning and question practice. This helps build confidence and ensures students are well-prepared to approach potential exam questions. As a 1st Year Politics & International Relations Undergraduate at Royal Holloway, University of London, I bring both current subject knowledge and recent exam experience. I am friendly, patient and committed to helping students improve not just their grades but also their enjoyment and confidence in the subject.
