About Alishba

Hi, I’m Alishba, a highly motivated Politics and International Relations student at UCL and the first girl in my Pakistani family to attend university. My own academic journey has taught me the value of having the right support and encouragement along the way.

I have personally experienced tutoring that felt unproductive and like a waste of time, which has shaped the way I approach tutoring today. I believe lessons should have a clear purpose and should leave students feeling that they have genuinely learned something and made progress. I am committed to making my lessons engaging, focused and tailored to each individual student, while creating an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and building their confidence.

I am passionate about helping students reach their potential and take a great deal of pride in seeing them become more confident and independent learners.

About the lesson

I take a structured and personalised approach to tutoring, beginning by carefully examining the relevant exam-board specification to identify key areas for improvement. I then plan lessons and targeted tasks around these areas, ensuring that each session is focused on helping the student make clear progress.

For A level students, I place a particular emphasis on exam technique and regularly work through exam questions, helping students develop strong arguments, structure their answers effectively and understand what examiners are looking for. I also use practice questions to identify gaps in knowledge and tailor future lessons accordingly.

Lessons are typically 1 hour long and are adapted to each student's learning style, level and goals. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and can build both their subject knowledge and confidence.

I achieved A* A* A in the A level subjects I tutor, as well as a Grade 9 in English and top grades in Triple Science at GCSE. I also have previous personal experience tutoring students. I primarily tutor GCSE and A level students, but I am also happy to work with primary-school students and adapt lessons appropriately to their age and level.
