About Lacie
Not only am I certified with the Kansas Department of Education to teach special education, high incident learning needs, and provide alternative education and a trauma-based learning environment with a therapeutic setting, I’m also a mom of three and a student with their own special education needs. I understand both sides of the table. I am here to make the lives of students better by helping them achieve. The confidence from within they require in order to give themselves a chance. Not every learning style is suited to every individual. I tailor my teaching to my students. I believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn in the way that best suits them in order to feel successful. That’s what I do.

Do you often feel that teachers just don’t get you? Do you ever feel you could succeed if you had someone in your corner who understood that you just learned differently? Have you ever felt like you just needed a little modification or someone to teach it to you in a different way without getting irritated with you? Have you missed a ton of school because of something you’ve struggled with in the past? Do you need someone to help you fill those gaps without judgment? Do you find it difficult to find educators who are patient enough? I’ve been a special education and math teacher in an alternative education setting for many years. I have significant experience in trauma based learning, foundational bridging, and the accommodations of modifications required to support students in special education. I am a firm believer that special education is not a sentence, but an opportunity. I’ve taught many students who struggle with bridging the gap from what they feel they should know to what they currently know, and I believe every student has the power within them to be successful, and that much of their struggle is based on self-confidence and having the right person in place. I specialize in trauma based learning, which means students who have encountered trauma in their younger years will have foundational gaps that are often difficult to fill when not in a specialized setting. I believe in the therapeutic learning methodologies that supports students who are still learning how to be in a classroom. I understand growth is not linear. I incorporate significant modification and accommodation into my teaching style in order to meet students where they are at. I believe anyone can achieve anything they set their mind to, with the right support system.
