About Emmett
I am a passionate piano tutor with 9 years of teaching experience, and I also work as a composer and performer. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano Studies, which has given me a strong foundation in both performance and music theory. I believe music is a lifelong journey, and I aim to inspire the same love for it in my students.
I have taught both beginners and advanced musicians, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and abilities. My lessons combine technique, theory, creativity, and performance, so students grow as well-rounded musicians. I also emphasize musical expression and interpretation, helping learners connect deeply with the pieces they play.
Composition and improvisation are key parts of my teaching, encouraging students to explore their own musical ideas. I help students prepare for performances, exams, or personal projects, always focusing on building confidence and skill. I also integrate music history and style, so students understand the context behind the music.
Each lesson is structured but flexible, keeping learning enjoyable and meaningful. My goal is to nurture both technical mastery and a lifelong love of piano. Together, we will explore, create, and grow musically in a supportive environment.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students build both technical skill and musical understanding. I begin with a solid foundation in piano technique, scales, chords, and rhythm. Music theory is integrated into every lesson, so students understand why music works, not just how to play it. I also guide students in exploring piano history and the development of different styles, from classical to jazz and pop.
For students preparing for exams like ABRSM, Rockschool, or A-Levels, I provide structured, goal-oriented lessons that cover all required skills. I also focus on creative development, including composition, improvisation, and arranging music, so students can express themselves freely. Rhythm training, sight-reading, and ear training are emphasized to create well-rounded musicians.
I support learners aiming to perform on stage, helping them build confidence, phrasing, and expression. Lessons are personalized to each student’s goals, whether they want to excel academically, creatively, or professionally. I encourage exploration of different genres while keeping lessons fun and engaging.
Every student progresses at their own pace, and I provide guidance step by step. My aim is to help students develop a lifelong love for piano while achieving their full potential. Together, we will build skill, creativity, and confidence at the keyboard.
