About Holly
I have 10 years of experience teaching piano and hold a Doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. My experience spans solo and ensemble performance, advanced pedagogy, improvisation, and stylistic versatility across classical and contemporary music.
My teaching approach focuses on individualised instruction that integrates technical exercises, repertoire study, improvisation, and performance coaching. I create a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and build confidence while developing strong technical and expressive skills.
Outside teaching, I perform professionally, collaborate with ensembles, and continue to refine my pedagogical methods. I am passionate about helping students develop expressive ability, technical mastery, and self-confidence. Supporting learners as they discover their musical voice and develop a lifelong connection with the piano is the most rewarding aspect of my work.

Piano lessons with me are structured to strengthen technical proficiency, expressive musicality, and performance readiness. Each student begins with an evaluation of finger independence, hand coordination, sight-reading skills, rhythm accuracy, tone quality, and stylistic preference. This assessment enables the creation of a lesson plan tailored to the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and musical goals.
Lessons include exercises to develop scales, arpeggios, chord progressions, hand coordination, sight-reading, and repertoire suitable to the student’s level. Emphasis is placed on articulation, phrasing, dynamics, pedalling, and expressive interpretation. Performance simulations and improvisation exercises are incorporated to build confidence, musical intuition, and emotional connection to the repertoire. Students receive continuous constructive feedback on technical execution, stylistic accuracy, and expressive delivery.
Advanced learners focus on challenging repertoire, ensemble collaboration, memorisation, interpretive coaching, and live performance preparation. Lessons include mental practice strategies, recording exercises, and structured simulations to enhance technical mastery, artistic expression, and stage presence. My goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and technically skilled pianists while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the instrument and its creative possibilities.
