About Carlos
Music has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music and a working film composer, with experience writing music for film, TV, and video games. My background blends classical training with contemporary styles, allowing me to bring a well-rounded and dynamic approach to teaching. As a pianist and composer, I believe that understanding the "why" behind the music is just as important as learning to play it. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced player, I aim to help you develop not just technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for the music you play. My lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and tailored to your goals—whether you want to improve your technique, explore different styles, or even compose your own music. As a Berklee College of Music graduate and working film composer, my approach to teaching piano is tailored to each student's goals, whether they want to master classical repertoire, explore contemporary styles, or compose their own music. I focus on building strong fundamentals—technique, theory, and musicality—while making lessons engaging and inspiring.
A typical lesson includes warm-ups, technical exercises, and repertoire suited to the student’s level and interests. I also emphasize understanding the music beyond just playing the notes—analyzing structure, harmony, and expression to develop a deeper connection with each piece. For those interested in composition, we explore chord progressions, melody writing, and how to bring musical ideas to life on the piano.
What sets me apart is my real-world experience as a film composer, bringing insights into music beyond performance, including creativity, storytelling, and industry knowledge. My lessons are open to all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players looking to refine their skills or expand into composition.
