About Lyla
Playing my first public recital at 9 years old remains a vivid memory that defines my artistic path. Since earning my DMA in Piano Performance, I have spent 8 years teaching students ranging from complete beginners to diploma level. My instruction integrates CHORD VOICING and jazz improvisation with a rigorous classical foundation.
I prioritize proper posture and hand position to facilitate complex tasks like hand independence and sight transposition. Helping others find their own musical voice is a quiet joy for me.

Keys click under fingertips while the sustain pedal adds a soft wash of color to the room. I incorporate ear training and rhythm work into our time at the bench, blending a Kapustin piece with a Gershwin standard.
Having spent 8 years teaching, I find that memorization techniques bloom when a student understands the internal logic of a composition. We track your progress through a report shared with parents every month to maintain clarity. Expect a focus on the subtle tension between classical precision and the loose, syncopated feeling of jazz.
