About Rhea

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in piano performance, and I’ve been teaching piano for over 6 years. My academic background provided me with a deep understanding of both the technical and expressive elements of piano playing, which I incorporate into each lesson. Teaching has given me the opportunity to share my passion for music while helping others build their own meaningful relationship with the instrument. Throughout my years of teaching, I’ve worked with students ranging from young beginners to adults returning to piano after years away. I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, always aiming to make lessons engaging and personalized. Whether the student is learning to play for fun or preparing for graded exams or performances, I ensure that they feel supported and motivated. I emphasize a balance between discipline and creativity. My approach includes building a solid foundation in technique and music theory while also allowing room for exploration through improvisation and expressive playing. I believe that developing a well-rounded pianist involves nurturing not just skill, but musical curiosity and confidence. Outside of teaching, I stay connected to music through accompanying, performing in small ensembles, and continuing my own studies. This ongoing involvement keeps my teaching fresh and helps me relate to the learning process from a student’s perspective as well. I find great joy in seeing my students grow musically and personally through their piano journey.

About the lesson

My piano lessons are designed to provide a structured yet flexible approach to learning, making the experience enjoyable and rewarding for students of all levels. Each session begins with exercises that develop strong technical foundations, including finger strength, posture, and hand coordination. These basics support long-term growth and help students play with both control and ease.

Beyond technique, I place a strong emphasis on musical understanding. Students learn to read sheet music fluently, recognize patterns, and understand rhythm and harmony. As they advance, we explore dynamics, articulation, and phrasing to bring music to life. Repertoire is chosen based on each student's taste and skill level, ranging from classical pieces to contemporary styles.

Creativity is encouraged throughout the process. Whether through improvisation, ear training, or simple composition, I aim to make students feel like active musicians—not just learners. This helps deepen their engagement and builds a more personal connection to music. For those interested in exams or performance preparation, I provide guidance in goal-setting and stage readiness.

Each lesson is adapted to meet the individual needs and pace of the student. My teaching style is patient and encouraging, with an emphasis on consistent progress and a love for music. I believe that learning piano should be a joyful, expressive journey, and I’m here to support students every step of the way.
