About Lane
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music in Keyboard Studies, with 8 years of teaching experience guiding students of all ages and skill levels. My teaching emphasizes technical foundation, musical interpretation, and creative expression. I structure lessons to balance exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and performance preparation, ensuring learners steadily progress while enjoying the learning process.
My approach prioritizes individualized attention, patience, and encouragement. Beginners build fundamental skills, intermediate students refine technique and expression, and advanced learners develop artistry, performance readiness, and improvisation abilities. I aim to create an environment where students feel supported, inspired, and motivated to explore music fully.
Outside teaching, I actively engage in piano performance, collaborative projects, and continuous study of new repertoire and pedagogical methods. This ongoing involvement allows me to bring practical insights, real-world experience, and fresh perspectives into every lesson. Watching students grow technically, musically, and emotionally remains the most rewarding part of my work.

My lessons focus on finger independence, scales, arpeggios, chord progressions, rhythm exercises, sight reading, improvisation, repertoire, and performance preparation. I integrate structured practice with creative exercises and guided improvisation to help learners connect technical skills with expressive musical ideas. Students are encouraged to explore and interpret music confidently, gaining technical mastery while developing personal expression.
For beginners, lessons emphasize posture, hand positioning, basic scales, simple repertoire, and reading skills. Intermediate learners focus on more complex pieces, rhythmic accuracy, interpretive phrasing, sight reading fluency, and improvisation techniques. Advanced students refine their technical proficiency, dynamic control, ensemble playing, advanced sight reading, and solo performance skills. Each lesson is tailored to individual goals, ensuring steady progress, continuous motivation, and a positive learning experience.
Piano study nurtures creativity, discipline, musical independence, and self-confidence. Students gradually become capable of performing complex works, improvising with fluency, and expressing emotions through music. My goal is to help learners gain comprehensive piano skills while building lasting confidence, appreciation for music, and enjoyment in their musical journey.
