About Nicky

I have been teaching for over 25 years in schools and privately. My students have always enjoyed their lessons and their successes. I have a 100% pass rate for ABRSM exams and have supported many students in performance opportunities, music GCSE work, A Level exams, D of E tasks and University applications through their music studies. I am also an experienced and supportive accompanist.

About the lesson

You'll love your learning journey with my friendly, flexible and thorough approach. You'll develop a strong and fluid playing technique, follow your own musical style and grow your confidence in your independent ability through reading and understanding all of the details of your musical material.
What would you like to learn to play? Whether long or short term, I can guide you to realising your piano goals.
We will learn warm up exercises for strength and movement, practise fundamental skills such as clear counting, notation reading and expressive details, and apply these to your choice of music which is based on your reasons and motivations for learning. We can take a long term view for life-long learning or through the exam systems, or we can set a shorter goal of working towards an upcoming event or simply a particular song.
Parents; you are very welcome to stay and watch, and are also welcome to ask any questions that will enable you to support your child's practice between lessons.
Lessons take place in the student's home or via zoom.
Support can also be given during the week via brief text messaging.

Lessons are 30/45/60 minutes at a time/day which suits you, and available during school breaks should you wish.
A minimum of 36 hrs notice to cancel or rearrange is appreciated (on the occasional basis) to avoid a full lesson charge.
