About Abdalhak

I am Abdalhak. An A-level Maths Physics and Psychology student. Who achieved 8 A* in their June 2024 exams, obviously an A* in physics. I plan to, in the future, study Engineering at university, so you can imagine the emphasis of physical application I will need beforehand that I also pass on to my students. I am incredibly passionate about Maths and Physics and I try to involve that with my teaching just like my favourite professor, Walter Lewin who made everyone in his class love physics after the first lesson. Maybe not the first, but I hope by the end you will love physics and maths just as much as I do. I am not just a teacher, I’m a student, so I won’t only want to help academically, but making sure I can help in any other way possible is a massive thing for me, I want to act like a mentor as well as a tutor. It’s why I do it, I love teaching, I love maths and physics and I love helping others love it too.

About the lesson

My lessons are simple, we need to know what we need to know right? So we will utilise the specification, and emphasising our application skills in exam style practice. A massive reason students lose marks on their final exam is through descriptive questions and mathematical problems so I designed a lesson plan that will help students for that specifically: Identify what we will learn Look to the specification Attempting exam questions at the beginning to improve problem solving skills Finding what they don’t know and understanding what they will know Attempting the question again Moving on to more questions allowing us to understand more physics. As previously stated, mathematical problems are a massive factor for the loss of marks in exams, mainly due to incorrect rearranging and wrong units. So in my lessons, whenever encountering new equations we will spend 5-10 minutes rearranging them into every possible way and assigning them their correct units. This is something I used in my Y10 and Y11 revision and it made it so simple to look at a question and not waste time rearranging because I have done it beforehand and essentially, save loads of time.
