About Douglas
I spent a decade researching theoretical physics and am passionate about quantum science. I also taught undergraduates during this time, both introductory level and upper level physics courses, and was fortunate to have the opportunity to design my own lesson plans and problem sets for the upper level. Helping students to succeed is an incredibly rewarding experience and something that I plan to continue doing throughout my life.

Every student is different, and has different educational needs. Whether it is particularly difficult new material, or weaknesses in their background and foundations that is driving a student to seek assistance, I will help them to achieve their educational goals and succeed in their course work.
My approach to teaching physics is to emphasize problem-solving, but also to not neglect conceptual foundations. The connections between the physical concepts and the mathematics can be very confusing to students, and having a proper handle on both is necessary to really understand the material.
Depending on a student's needs, I will work with them step by step through problems, or help them to understand the concepts better by offering them a variety of learning approaches.
