About Tony

I have personally authored two philosophy books on the nature of logic and truth, and a third book on the Trivium educational system of clear thinking and communication - as such, Critical Thinking is one of my favourite topics; a long-standing passion of mine, and I always enjoy helping others to develop this skill. I have also built three online courses: one on The Trivium, another on The Socratic Method, and one as an Enhanced Introduction to Logic.

These topics are not, ultimately, separate in my mind but converge, and Critical Thinking is a common thread between them.

For that reason, I know that I can see the topic holistically, and communicate this to others. As a teacher, I have been teaching thinking and communication skills for years to hundreds of students from all over the world.

About the lesson

In these lessons we can approach Critical Thinking in a variety of ways. Given that Critical Thinking is an all-purpose, multi-discipline skill, we can apply it to whatever domain you are interested in, and cater the classes to your skill level. Techniques can include, but are not limited to:

Socratic Dialogues (Using logic and deep questioning to challenge your assumptions and push you to clearly formulate and fortify all of your ideas)

Text Analysis (Whether books, articles, or videos, we can look at texts with a critical eye, uncovering what makes their ideas coherent, and where many of their logical gaps might be).

Debating (We can choose a topic of interest, and test your debating skills against it. Can you defend your position on it without making logical errors? Can you spot the inconsistencies in the opposing arguments?)

And more, including the formulation of syllogisms, and learning to spot fallacies...

Hence, these lessons will have a dual focus: on the one hand, they will teach you a variety of Critical Thinking techniques, and on the other, they will give you focused practice.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Tony knows absolutely everything about essay writing, no matter what the topic is. I have learnt a lot and my grades have significantly improved over the past months; first I had an average rate of 70, but after studying with Tony my average rate is 85! I have found his advice to be extremely useful, not to mention that he is a very supportive, pleasant and cheerful person. I believe that every student who has difficulties with writing essays (or if you are learning English at the same time, like me) must book a lesson with Tony and step by step, writing an essay will gradually cease to be a struggle. I have known Tony for quite some years now. His essay writing style is succinct and structured which is great for people who panic about essays like me. He is calm and rational and breaks the process up into steps. His methodology is efficient and he knows his own technique like the back of hand as well as how to teach it. I would recommend Tony because he teaches how to do it, gives you a time frame to do it by and best of all gives you the confidence to write your essay when you were convinced you wouldn't be able to do it.
