About Rosie
Hello my name is Rosie and I’m a Bioscience researcher with a passion for making science engaging and accessible. My work explores how fish respond to their environments, but my love of teaching goes far beyond the lab — I enjoy helping students see the bigger picture in biology, connecting textbook knowledge to the real world. I know from experience that confidence and curiosity are just as important as knowledge when it comes to exam success, and I’m committed to creating lessons that spark both. I take a personalised, curiosity-driven approach to tutoring, focusing on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorising facts. I break complex biology topics into clear, manageable steps, using real-world examples from my own research in animal physiology, marine biology and genetics to make lessons engaging and relevant. I also integrate past-paper practice and active recall techniques to build exam confidence and retention.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, though I can adapt to shorter or longer sessions depending on the student’s needs. I am currently a PhD researcher specialising in fish behaviour and stress in aquatic environments, with a strong academic background in animal biology, behavioural ecology, and data analysis. My teaching experience includes mentoring undergraduate students, running outreach workshops for schools, and presenting at national conferences.
I tutor Primary, Secondary, GCSE and A level Biology (as well as general science for younger students), supporting learners aged 6–18, including those aiming for top grades, preparing for university entrance, or needing extra help to boost confidence in the subject.
