About Mingyang

I am a PhD-trained scientist and former university lecturer with extensive experience in both scientific research and teaching. My academic background is in life sciences, including biology, molecular biology and infectious diseases. Through my research career I have worked on topics related to viruses, immunity and global health.

As a tutor, I focus on helping students build strong understanding and confidence in their learning. I believe complex ideas can become much clearer when they are explained logically and connected to real-world examples. In science lessons, I often draw on examples from the real history of scientific discoveries, including how scientists understand viruses, vaccines and pandemics.

In addition to science, I also teach Chinese language and Chinese literature. I help students improve reading, writing and cultural understanding, and I enjoy introducing students to classical Chinese poetry and literature as part of a broader cultural learning experience.

My lessons are structured but flexible, and I adapt my teaching style to each student’s level and goals. A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs.

I welcome students from primary school, secondary school and university level, as well as anyone interested in learning more about science, Chinese language or Chinese culture.

About my tutoring

I am a PhD-trained scientist and former university lecturer with many years of experience in scientific research and teaching. My goal as a tutor is to make learning clear, engaging and intellectually exciting for students.

In science subjects such as Biology and general Science, I focus on helping students understand the logic behind scientific ideas rather than simply memorizing facts. As a researcher in life sciences, I often use real-world examples to explain topics such as viruses, vaccines, infectious diseases and the history of global pandemics. Many students find these topics fascinating when they are connected to real scientific discoveries and historical events.

For Chinese language and literature, I help students improve reading, writing and cultural understanding. Lessons may include modern Chinese language skills as well as Chinese history, classical literature and famous poetry from the Tang and Song dynasties. My aim is to help students appreciate both the language and the cultural depth behind it.

My teaching style is patient, structured and interactive. I adapt lessons to each student’s level and interests, and I encourage curiosity and independent thinking. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged if needed.

My lessons are suitable for primary school, high school and university students, as well as anyone interested in learning more about science, Chinese language, Chinese literature and the fascinating history of human diseases and pandemics.
