About Rebecca
I am a PhD research scientist who uses algebra and applied mathematics on the daily both at work and at home. I have worked in various fields of biological research for nearly 20 years in public universities, non-profits, and private companies. I earned my PhD in 2019 and while working towards this degree, worked as a teaching assistant for both basic immunology and advanced immunology classes. I found this experience incredibly rewarding, and hope to continue helping others learn subjects that I enjoy. I have published in peer-reviewed journals and have written white papers and other research-related articles, but especially enjoy teaching and writing protocols. Aside from my professional life, I love animals (fostering dogs until I "foster failed" my current dog, Jupiter!) and have a young son I adore. Hobbies: gardening, woodworking, crafts, kayaking/paddleboarding, hiking, and occasional photography.

I am open to tutoring K-12 and college students. My tutoring methods involve understanding the struggles in learning a subject for each individual, learning how they learn best, and working with individuals to relate to the subject so that they learn, but also internalize what they learn. I am open to discussing a sliding scale for low-income families.
