About Yuting
I’m a Taiwanese composer, having an enriched music academic background. I have learned music since I was 9 years old and I’m Studying composition PhD at the University of Bristol.
I learned piano and violin for 20 years in specific music schools in Taiwan from elementary school until graduating from university. After that, I started teaching music to kids and adults for about 10 years.
My PhD research topic is transcultural music, finding new possibilities between Western and Asian music. I believe my immersive academic background can bring different ideas when I teach students music. I also can speak Mandarin for those who are Chinese native students.

Learning music is the best way to develop a hobby and get to know more about ourselves deeply. By exploring such power in our inner voices through music, we experience expressing ourselves in a new way. Music not only opens all the senses and heightens our acuity of things.
My Piano lesson will include the Basics up to an advanced level: reading scores, cultivating listening, learning more, discovering creativity, and learning about harmony, performance skills as well as music history or theory. I like to tell music stories sometimes when I teach classical pieces. Students will know more about those mastered composers and the differences between various music genres. I also add singing in music lessons, which is helpful for students to learn rhythm and melody quickly.
I also would like to make sure students will understand the concepts and can apply them to their playing. They can expect to learn about chords, melody and basic music theory, but I will also incorporate some songs that they enjoy and want to learn. I will also give them feedback and guidance on music lessons, so they can see progress and achieve their goals.
