I have a PhD in synthetic chemistry from the University of Bristol and am passionate about making complex scientific concepts clear and engaging. My lessons are flexible and aimed at those struggling with concepts and ideas. I am a big believer in learning by analogy and always attempt to explain complex or unfamiliar ideas with real-world examples. Generally, I aim to start lessons with a quick warm-up quiz on a topic to gain an understanding of the student's knowledge, then follow up with in-depth discussion of any ideas or points that present an issue. If appropriate, I like to finish lessons with exam-style questions to work through. I have experience teaching undergraduate students during my doctorate, and school-age pupils as a voluntary tutor during the pandemic. I am happy to take on students of any ability, whether they are those looking to push into the top grades, or those looking to pass in GCSE or A level.
