About Manuela

Hello! My name is Dr. Manuela Holzer, and I am a SACE-registered educator based in Cape Town, South Africa. I hold a PhD in Fine Art from the University of Pretoria, a Master of Arts in Visual Arts from Stellenbosch University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Johannesburg.

I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, and a genuine enjoyment of learning. I believe every student has unique strengths, and I strive to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging learning environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and achieving their academic and creative goals.

My teaching experience includes Visual Arts and Design Theory, a teaching practicum at the National School of the Arts, university seminar presentations, workshop facilitation, and one-on-one academic support. Alongside teaching, I am a practicing sculptor and researcher. My work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and I have published academic work in the fields of Fine Art and mental health.

I offer tutoring in Visual Arts, Art History, Design, portfolio preparation for university applications, sculpture, academic writing, research skills, and study support. Whether you are preparing for school examinations, applying to study art at university, developing a portfolio, or looking to strengthen your academic writing and research skills, I tailor each lesson to meet your individual needs and learning style.

I am available for both online lessons and in-person tutoring in the Cape Town area. I look forward to helping you build confidence, deepen your understanding, and reach your full academic and creative potential.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is student-centred, supportive, and tailored to each learner's individual needs. I encourage curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and confidence by creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. I adapt my teaching methods to suit different learning styles and work collaboratively with students to help them achieve their academic and creative goals.
