About Zahra
I am a PhD epidemiologist. I also have a BSc in psychology from the University of Calgary, and have worked in academic research environments for almost a decade. As a researcher, I have published over a dozen research papers and have presented my work internationally (United States, Australia, Norway). I have tutored students at the high school, undergrad, and grad levels, primarily working online. I also have been a teaching assistant for MSc courses in epidemiology and biostatistics. Currently I teach undergraduate research methods and stats at a small local university.

I have a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Ottawa. I am currently a postdoc at the University of Calgary, and. I am a passionate teacher and life-long learner providing services in a range of fields, including epidemiology, public health, psychology, and biostatistics and research methods. I have tutored students in high school, and undergraduate and graduate programs in Canada, Norway, and the United States. I have served as a teaching assistant in graduate-level public health and biostatistics courses. I am also an avid science writer and communicator, with published work in outlets including SisterSTEM and the CBC - my goal is to make science enjoyable and understandable for all of my students.
I can help you with assignments, crafting research proposals, and working with statistical software (SAS, Stata, SPSS, and MPlus).
Topics I am comfortable teaching include:
- Epidemiology and public health
- Psychology (I have a BSc and specialize in psychiatric research)
- Introductory statistics and biostatistics
- Research methods
- Academic and scientific writing
