About Ahmed
I am a PhD-qualified electrochemist specialising in batteries, fuel cells, and membrane technologies, with experience across academic research, industry-funded projects, and international collaborations.
I completed my PhD at the University of Birmingham, with integrated training in electrochemistry and materials science. My work has focused on polymer electrolyte membranes, membrane–electrode assemblies, and electrochemical performance and durability, and has resulted in peer-reviewed publications.
Alongside my research, I have several years of experience supporting MSc and PhD students through laboratory supervision, data analysis, and research planning. I enjoy helping researchers understand complex electrochemical behaviour and develop confidence in their experimental work.

My lessons are structured and tailored to your specific research or technical problem. I work primarily with university students, as well as early-career professionals, in electrochemistry, batteries, fuel cells, and membrane technologies.
A typical session starts with understanding your system, data, or research question. We then identify the underlying electrochemical mechanisms, sources of error or uncertainty, and how these affect performance or interpretation. Where relevant, I help design improved experiments, suggest appropriate electrochemical techniques, and explain how to analyse and present results clearly.
I can support with:
Interpreting electrochemical data (EIS, CV, LSV, polarisation curves)
Experimental design and troubleshooting
Understanding membrane and electrode behaviour
Preparing figures, reports, and thesis chapters
Developing a clear research strategy
Thesis and viva support
Sessions are interactive and I encourage questions throughout. My aim is to help you develop independent thinking and confidence in your work, not just provide short-term answers.
All lessons are conducted online and adapted to your level and goals.
